As Apple reorganizes its executive leadership ahead of John Ternus joining as CEO, Phil Schiller—an Apple Fellow and long-time figure at the company—is stepping down from overseeing the App Store and Apple Events, while remaining with the company.
While retaining his title as Apple Fellow, Phil Schiller is reducing his responsibilities and removing himself from direct oversight of the App Store and Apple Events. He will now reportedly focus on other projects within the company.
Leadership Changes for Core Products
The supervision of the App Store is being transferred to the organization led by Eddy Cue, Senior Vice President of Services and Health. This change marks a return to the structure that existed before Phil Schiller took over responsibility in 2015. According to reports, Carson Oliver, a long-time member of the App Store team, will take charge of its daily operations.
Regarding Apple Events, Nola Weinstein, who previously assisted Phil Schiller with the activity, will now lead the team. She will report directly to Kristin Huguet Quayle, Vice President of Global Communications at Apple.
This extensive reorganization comes as Apple undergoes several changes in its executive leadership and prepares for John Ternus to succeed Tim Cook as CEO on September 1. The reassignment of these responsibilities to Eddy Cue, Carson Oliver, and Nola Weinstein accompanies the renewal of Apple's leadership team with the arrival of the John Ternus era.
